RSB marks special milestone at Government House

RSB has been providing services to the South Australian community for 138 years, and enjoyed the support and patronage of the Governor of South Australia for well over 100 years.
RSB representatives were privileged to attend a reception at Government House where Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC presented key supporters of the RSB OPK9 program with awards.
138 years into our journey, RSB’s assistance dog expertise and services have expanded beyond guide dogs, to also include specialised programs for children with autism, as well as Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), through the RSB OPK9 program.
This year RSB celebrates it’s 50th RSB OPK9 partnership. This is a significant milestone – 50 Veterans’ we have supported to live the lives they want to with, their family and friends, supported by given a lifeline supported by a highly trained assistance dog.
Each of the award recipients presented at Government House has made a significant contribution to the RSB OPK9 program in the last year, enhancing RSB’s ability to support Veterans’ experiencing PTSD.
Speaking at the event, RSB Board President Kate McKeough at commented, “We (RSB) are very proud to deliver this program, with the generous support of many individual donors, our wonderful and generous corporate and organisational sponsors and the support of the Department of Veterans Affairs. To everyone here tonight I extend our gratitude for your support. There are more veterans to support, so we are now focussed on our next target of providing 100 assistance dogs to make the lives of veterans better.”
