Operation Unity and Jamie Larcombe Centre come together to support veterans

We were delighted to attend the Operation Unity SA and Friends of Veterans event late last week to hear all about some brilliant new work they are doing to support the Jamie Larcombe Centre. Operation Unity are a veterans support group who do a range of brilliant activities to support fellow veterans. In the past few years, they have donated tens of thousands of dollars to our OPK9 program and we count them as one of our closest partners. Their impact on the community and commitment to helping veterans and their families is outstanding. It was also great to meet the new SA Minister for Veterans Affairs, Joe Szakacs MP, at the event.

Balancing Playtime and Training 🐾

See Differently OPK9 dogs in-training spend lots of time out and about with our skilled trainers, preparing them for their future career. It's a pretty incredible career too - they become assistance dogs for veterans with post traumatic stress disorder.

Check out this video of our dogs and trainers practicing skills like mastering escalators, comfortably settling onto trainers' laps, and leaning against chairs.

But it's not all work! We believe in a balanced approach, ensuring our dogs have ample playtime alongside their training. Watch until the end of the video to catch our OPK9 dogs enjoying some well-deserved playtime.
