Donation to RACS Timor Leste Eye Care Team Project
Guide dogs Queensland (GDQ) has generously provide the RACS Timor Leste Eye Care Team Project January 2010 with the following Orientation and Mobility/Low Vision remote area kit equipment:
- 40 Canes, including telescopic, ID and support canes
- 14 assorted cane tips
- A liquid level finder
- 2 Pocket magnifiers

In the last year the following donations have been made:
Royal Society for the Blind:
- 12 assorted magnifiers and 4 braille slates and stylus to Nepal
- 2 talking calculators, 3 talking books, 1 talking tactile watch to Vietnam.
- 2 Braillers, UV shields, assorted magnifiers and white canes donated to Solomon Islands.
- Braille Primer donated to School for Disability, Kiribati.
- Assorted magnifiers and talking watch donated to Vanuatu.
- Brailler, Braille Paper, playing cards, talking watch and talking calculator donated to Samoa.
- Assorted magnifiers donated to Papua New Guinea.

Update from Tonga
Sila, a young man who is blind, helping two children at the special school OTA ('Ofa Tui 'Amanaki Centre) in Tonga. They are finding out what a Perkins Brailler can do.
Two Braillers, Brailling paper and other equipment were donated last year to OTA by the Royal Society for the Blind of South Australia. Sila began teaching three OTA students over the last few months and there are plans for the class to continue this year.
