Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is there an age limit for YBL Participants?

Participants typically range in age from early twenties to mid thirties.  There is no age limit.  Emphasis is placed on ensuring that Participants have the experience and attitude necessary to successfully complete YBL.  We understand that different people are at different stages of their career.

Do I need to be employed to participate?

Because Participants need to manage a Business Improvement Project, Participants should be employed.  Most Participants are employed on a full-time basis.

What types of job roles do participants have?

YBL Participants come from a range of industries and their roles have included accountants and stockbrokers, marketing, retail and administrative coordinators or assistants, operations staff, salespeople and workplace trainers.

What types of educational background do YBL Participants have?

Participants have a range of educational backgrounds.  YBL is action-based learning.  This means that a Participant’s formal educational background has no bearing on their success throughout YBL, whatsoever.

When does the next YBL Program start?

The 2010/2011 YBL Program will be launched on Monday 26 July 2010 at the National Wine Centre.  The Program runs for ten months.

How much does YBL cost?

The nomination fee is $2,500 (ex GST).  This fee covers all costs for the YBL Program, including Diploma of Management workshops run by the Australian Institute of Management, assessment to gain the qualification, network functions, Professional Development Seminars and a ticket for the YBL Finalist to attend the Presentation Evening.  In all cases, it is the host or employing organisation that pays the YBL nomination fee.

How do I register my interest in the YBL Program?

Call the YBL Coordinator on 8223 6222 to discuss YBL and what it can do for you.  You can then make an appointment for you and your line manager to meet with the YBL Coordinator to ensure you both have a full understanding of the program, what it offers and the commitment involved.
