Talking Newspaper Service
Goal of Service
The RSB provides access to over 23 South Australian local newspapers, in audio format. The Advertiser newspaper and other daily newspapers and magazines are also available on a limited basis.
Services Provided
The RSB arranges for a number of South Australian local newspapers to be recorded onto audio-cassette tape on a weekly basis. These are mailed free of charge to RSB clients.
The RSB also provides free access to the Advertiser newspaper, as well as a range of other newspapers and magazines, through its Book in The Sky (BiTS) digital talking book library.
Location
The Talking Newspaper Service is delivered in audio-cassette format to the client’s home via the postal service.
The Advertiser and other newspapers and magazines are delivered in digital audio format via the Book in The Sky system. This can be downloaded via a client’s broadband internet service, or through selected Public Libraries.
These services are available in both Metropolitan and Regional of South Australia.
Eligibility
The Talking Newspaper Service is available to all RSB clients. To be eligible to become an RSB client, a person must be diagnosed by an eye care professional as being legally blind, or likely to become legally blind.
