Low Vision Awareness Sessions

 

Goal of Service

The Low Vision Awareness Sessions enable people coming to terms with vision loss the opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation and learn about strategies to deal with vision impairment. Family members and friends are also welcome to attend. It is a service coordinated by the Low Vision Centre (LVC).

 

Services Provided

The sessions are held over six weeks and cover the following areas:

 

  • learning about eye conditions with an ophthalmologist,
  • discussion of daily living problems with an occupational therapist,
  • alternatives to print,
  • mobility and independent travel,
  • adaptive technology, and
  • grief and loss.
  •

    First Floor, Knapman House, 230 Pirie Street, Adelaide.

     

    Eligibility

    A person is eligible to attend Low Vision Awareness Sessions if they are a client of the RSB.

     

    Referrals

    Requests for this service are generally made by clients themselves and by family members or friends (with the individual’s consent) and other RSB staff.
