Independent Living Training
Goal of Service
Independent Living Training uses adaptive aids and techniques to teach people who are blind or vision impaired to manage everyday activities, so that they can maintain their independence and quality of life.
Services Provided
The RSB has a team of trained Specialists who can assess the needs of people who are blind or vision impaired, and teach them how to use a range of aids and techniques to overcome their vision loss. With this assistance, everyday activities can be maintained, such as meal preparation, house cleaning, washing and ironing, personal grooming, gardening, and handling money.
Location
Independent Living Training is an outreach service that is delivered in the person’s own home environment. This service is available in both the Metropolitan and Regional areas of South Australia.
Eligibility
Independent Living Training is available to all RSB clients. To be eligible to become an RSB client, a person must be diagnosed by an eye care professional as being legally blind, or likely to become legally blind.
