Community Education

Goal of Service

To provide information to the wider community about vision loss and how the RSB can assist.

Services Provided

The RSB undertakes a range of activities designed to assist the general community and those who are either blind or vision impaired or assist persons with a vision impairment to better understand vision loss and how persons can be assisted.

These include:
  • provision of printed information (brochures and other material)
  • tours of the RSB’s Client Service Centre in Adelaide and Industrial Factory at Gilles Plains
  • provision of training to other service providers who assist persons with a vision impairment on vision loss and how best to assist individuals
  • talks to service clubs, schools and other organisations.
The provision of community education talks and training programs are able to be delivered throughout South Australia, the location dependent upon the request made.

Location

Talks and tours provided at:
  • the RSB’s Client Service Centre, Knapman House, 230 Pirie Street, Adelaide
  • Industrial Factory, Blacks Road, Gilles Plains
  • other locations as required

Eligibility

The delivery of any talk or tour is conditional upon availability of staff or volunteers.
