Community Education

Introduction

Did you know another 150,000 Australians are expected to experience vision loss during the next 10 years?

The Royal Society for the Blind (RSB) Community Education Program provides the opportunity for your community group, staff or students to learn more about vision loss and how the RSB can help.

What does the program offer?

The RSB Community Education program has a team of educators who deliver presentations about:

  • common causes of vision loss and the messages around prevention, early detection and treatment
  • The RSB and its services
  • how to assist someone who is blind or vision impaired
  • how your workplace can improve services and its environment for people who are blind or vision impaired

The presentations are complemented by high quality resources and, where appropriate, a display of equipment.
RSB Guide Dogs are also available for visits to your organisation or group*.

*RSB Guide Dog visits are available to organisations who wish to, or are currently actively fundraising a minimum of $250 for the RSB.

Who is the program for?

The program caters for a wide range of audiences. Currently we offer presentations to the following groups:

  • community groups
  • aged care staff and students
  • high school students (middle school)

Presentation content been tailored to suit each audience, however if you have a specific request the RSB will do their best to accommodate your requirements.

When are presentations available?
