Tech Fest
From telephones that can read, to pocket electric magnifiers, this year’s RSB Tech Fest promises something for everyone.
Suppliers from across the country will be at the RSB’s Adaptive Technology Centre (ATC) on 18 and 19 August 2010 to showcase how adaptive technology can help people who are vision impaired.
On display will be the latest assistive technology available to manage information in print or electronic formats – whether you use vision, touch or hearing to access information.
The day is open to the general public and will be of special interest to businesses, organisations and individuals who want to keep up to date with the latest technology, as well as people who have a vision impairment, their families, friends and employers.
Technology suppliers who will have displays over the two days include Dolphin, Enhanced Vision, Freedom Scientific, Humanware, Optek Systems, Optelec, Pacific Vision, Quantum Technology, Riada, Sirius Optics, VisiTech Magnifiers and Visual Independence.
There will also be a program of talks regarding adaptive technology including topics such as Braille Note Apex, Guide Software, Mobile Phones, iPhone, Riada – Listen and play music and the Digital Library Service.
Tech Fest will be held at RSB’s Adaptive Technology Centre, Knapman House, 230 Pirie Street Adelaide on Wednesday 18 August from 10.30am to 6.00pm and Thursday 19 August from 9.00am to 4.00pm.
