It Takes Two to Tandem
Together with 3,400 other cyclists, an RSB team rode long country miles to Strathalbyn for the recent Tour Down Under Mutual Community Challenge Tour.
The team of cyclists included several members who are blind or vision impaired.
“We wanted to show that vision impaired people can be fit, active and healthy members of our community,” said Simon Mboki.
Simon, employed at the RSB’s industrial site, was piloted by Warren Ryan on a tandem bike.
Also taking part were Kieran Modra and his pilot, Michael Hoile, who between them have a swag of medals won in national and international events such as the 2007 UCI Para-Cycling World Championships, the 2007 Arafura Games and 2004 Paralympics.
“I just love getting on a tandem and going for a spin”, said Kieren.
If you too would like to ‘go for a spin’, the RSB has tandems available for client use. Please contact Felicity McAvaney to hire one.
